Hi, I'm Kian!
I'm 23 years old, Dutch and currently studying Creative Media and Game Technologies at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede.
I'm a Game Designer that's passionate about creating fun experiences for people, and to make them laugh (or rage quit, sorry, not sorry).
I'm a Game Designer that's passionate about creating fun experiences for people, and to make them laugh (or rage quit, sorry, not sorry).
My gaming journey started with the Wii and Minecraft. A way for me to connect with friends and express my creativity. Nowadays games like It Takes Two, Hollow Knight and Stardew Valley are a few of many that inspire me to pursue a career in Game Development.
Now as a Designer, I've gotten a different view on games that I play. A more curious approach than before. Whether it’s mechanics, levels, or just weird environments, I enjoy the process of figuring out what makes games so fun and how to make them better.
I'm practicing my skills during my study and with projects outside of uni. Through those projects, I’ve been diving into different parts of game development, from designing core mechanics and building systems to shaping narrative and sound. Game design is my main focus, but I also enjoy getting technical, experimenting with soundscapes, and stepping into a lead role when needed. I like combining creativity with structure, and I’m always looking for new ways to bring ideas to life in a way that feels fun, clear, and memorable.
Besides making and playing games, I have many hobbies that I'm passionate about. I love football, racing, gardening and playing piano! Especially the last one can be quite useful when I'm composing music for a project of mine.
In my professional journey so far, I’ve learned a lot about how I like to work and what gives me energy. I enjoy combining creativity with technical problem-solving, and I’m at my best when I can turn ideas into clear, interactive experiences. The skills below reflect that way of working:
- Unity and C#, building complete games and interactive systems
- Designing gameplay and systems that feel clear and meaningful
- Working on interactive installations with physical hardware and multiple screens
- Designing and implementing UI, including tablet interfaces and localization
- Solving problems through iteration, testing, and feedback
- Working independently and taking ownership of a project
- Communicating ideas clearly with designers, clients, and non-technical people
